SQL 2012 EE with sp1 install on Windows 8 laptop

SQL 2012 EE with sp1 ISO downloaded from TechNet and mounted to

E:\ with Windows 8 mounting.  But can NOT start SQL server

the following errors are in the errorlog and application log

FileMgr::StartLogFiles: Operating system error 2(The system cannot find the file specified.) occurred while creating or opening file 'e:\sql11_main_t.obj.x86release\sql\mkmastr\databases\objfre\i386\MSDBLog.ldf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation.

FCB::Open failed: Could not open file e:\sql11_main_t.obj.x86release\sql\mkmastr\databases\objfre\i386\MSDBData.mdf for file number 1.  OS error: 3(The system cannot find the path specified.).

Please note E: is the mounted ISO and there is no such path as 'e:\sql11_main_t.obj.x86release.

I have looked at the bootstrap file and did not see an obvious (to me) error

I assume I have done something silly during the install.

Can anyone offer pertinent guidance?

TIA

Joe
